    Análisis bibliométrico del Journal of Transport Geography (1993–2020)

    Fundada en 1993 por Richard Knowles, Journal of Transport Geography (JTRG) se ha convertido en una de las revistas científicas de mayor prestigio en geografía de los transportes a escala internacional. En este artículo, se realiza un análisis bibliométrico integral de los 27 años de existencia de la revista. Para ello, se recurre en primer lugar a la base de datos de Scopus para la obtención de datos bibliométricos. Seguidamente, se realiza un análisis estadístico con apoyo del software VOSviewer. Los resultados permiten evaluar el alcance global de la revista, los artículos más relevantes, así como los autores, países e instituciones más productivos. Las líneas de investigación más desarrolladas, en base al análisis de las palabras clave, muestran que el comportamiento del viaje, el transporte urbano, la accesibilidad y la planificación del transporte son temas prioritarios. Así, se observa cómo la geografía del transporte ha atravesado, en los últimos veinte años, un periodo especialmente prolífico y cómo ha logrado estrechar vínculos con otras disciplinas

    Climatología de descargas eléctricas en Mallorca y su relación con las precipitaciones intensas (1944-2010)

    Ponencia presentada en: VIII Congreso de la Asociación Española de Climatología celebrado en Salamanca entre el 25 y el 28 de septiembre de 2012.[ES]Se realiza un estudio climatológico de las descargas eléctricas en el entorno de la isla de Mallorca a partir de datos de la Agencia Estatal de Meteorología para el período comprendido entre el 1 de julio de 1994 y el 31 de diciembre de 2010, considerando un área de 10.807 km2, de los cuáles 3.649,24 km2 (33,7%) se corresponden con la superficie de la isla de Mallorca y el resto (66,3%) con superficie marítima. Se detecta un máximo de actividad durante el final de la época cálida, con una punta muy marcada en el mes de septiembre, mes en el que destaca tanto en número total de descargas como en número de días de tormenta. Además, se observa un máximo secundario primaveral centrado en el mes de mayo. Horariamente aparecen dos máximos, uno en torno a medianoche y otro a mediodía, correspondiéndose el primero con descargas en el mar y el segundo en tierra.[EN]A cloud to ground lightning climatology is studied around Mallorca using data from AEMET between July 1994 and December 2010, studying an area of 10.807 km2. 3.649,24 km2 (33,7%) of that area correspond to the island itself, and the rest (66,3%) to the maritime area. The maximum activity is detected at the end of the hot season, with a considerable maximum in September, both in number of CG lightning and days of storm. A second maximum is detected during the spring, with its highest value in May.     Evaluación de la equidad del servicio de transporte público: El caso de Palma de Mallorca

    The practice of sustainable transport planning must take into account the level of territorial and social equity of service. The equity analysis requires a deep understanding of the service and the territorial and social characteristics where it is implanted. We propose a simplified method to analyze the equity of the public bus system that has been used in the city of Palma de Mallorca. The bus service level was calculated from the spatial analysis of the offer and was contrasted with the population and with a multidimensional index of social need for public transportation leading to horizontal and vertical equity respectively. Next the overall equity of the service was tested with the support of the Lorenz curve and Gini coefficient. Finally, a sensitivity analysis of bus routes depending on the role they play in the equity of the service was performed.La planificación sostenible del transporte público requiere la consideración de la equidad territorial y social. El análisis de la equidad precisa de un profundo conocimiento del servicio así como de las características territoriales y sociales dónde se implanta. En este artículo se propone un método simplificado para el análisis de la equidad del sistema de autobuses públicos, aplicado a la ciudad de Palma. El nivel de servicio se calcula a partir del análisis territorial de la oferta, y se contrasta con la población existente y con un índice multidimensional de necesidad social de transporte público, dando lugar a la equidad horizontal y vertical, respectivamente. Posteriormente, se verifica la equidad global del servicio con el apoyo de la curva de Lorenz y del coeficiente GINI. Finalmente, se realiza un análisis de sensibilidad a través de la frecuencia de las rutas de autobús en relación a la equidad social del servicio

    El artículo analiza los sistemas de bicicleta pública como instrumento de incentivación de los desplazamientos en bicicleta en el marco de las políticas de movilidad sostenible. Se centra en su implantación en la ciudad de Palma y se valoran tres componentes: la evolución del reparto modal en la ciudad desde su instalación en 2011 y su relación con el tráfico ciclista; la cobertura territorial del sistema y su funcionamiento; y, por último, las características, el perfil y las motivaciones de los usuarios. Del análisis se deduce una baja aceptación del sistema, a pesar del incremento más que notable del número de ciclistas en la ciudad

    Ecogeomorphology and drones as dynamic tools for post-fire management. The experience in the Pariatge County, Mallorca Wildfires are one of the most significant driving factors in desertification processes. Furthermore, insular territories such Mallorca are more affected by human impacts due to their intrinsic socioecological fragility. The increase of burned surface area since 2011 in Balearic Islands involves a challenge in which forest management and research through interdisciplinary and technological advances should be joined. Ecogeomorphology is an emergent discipline which allows investigating the role of geomorphic processes in the vegetation recovery. Additionally, the introduction of unmanned aerial vehicles as remotesensing tools offers new and exciting opportunities for monitoring environmental processes. This paper pretends to elucidate the potential of ecogeomorphology and drones to implement more effective and dynamic post-fire management integrating both the resilience capacity of ecosystems with sediment connectivity for landscape restoration.Els incendis forestals són considerats un dels factors causals més importants en els processos de desertificació. Els territoris insulars com Mallorca són particularment sensibles als impactes antròpics, per la seva major fragilitat socioecològica. L?increment de superfície cremada a Mallorca d?ençà el 2011 esperoneja a vincular gestió forestal i recerca amb interdisciplinarietat i avenços tecnològics. L?ecogeomorfologia permet investigar el paper dels processos geomorfològics en la recuperació de la vegetació. Endemés, la introducció dels vehicles aeris no tripulats com a instruments de teledetecció presenta noves oportunitats en el monitoratge de processos ambientals.     Hydrogeomorphological analysis and modelling for a comprehensive understanding of flash-flood damage processes: the 9 October 2018 event in northeastern Mallorca

    [EN] A flash-flood event hit the northeastern part of Mallorca on 9 October 2018, causing 13 casualties. Mal- lorca is prone to catastrophic flash floods acting on a sce- nario of deep landscape transformation caused by Mediter- ranean tourist resorts. As global change may exacerbate dev- astating flash floods, analyses of catastrophic events are cru- cial to support effective prevention and mitigation measures. Field-based remote-sensing and modelling techniques were used in this study to evaluate rainfall¿runoff processes at the catchment scale linked to hydrological modelling. Continu- ous streamflow monitoring data revealed a peak discharge of 442 m³ s¿¹ with an unprecedented runoff response. This ex- ceptional behaviour triggered the natural disaster as a com- bination of heavy rainfall (249 mm in 10 h), karstic features and land cover disturbances in the Begura de Salma River catchment (23 km²). Topography-based connectivity indices and geomorphic change detection were used as rapid post- catastrophe decision-making tools, playing a key role dur- ing the rescue search. These hydrogeomorphological preci- sion techniques were combined with the Copernicus Emer- gency Management Service and ¿ground-based¿ damage as- sessment, which showed very accurately the damage-driving factors in the village of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar.     Accuracy Assessment of Digital Terrain Model Dataset Sources for Hydrogeomorphological Modelling in Small Mediterranean Catchments

    Digital terrain models (DTMs) are a fundamental source of information in Earth sciences. DTM-based studies, however, can contain remarkable biases if limitations and inaccuracies in these models are disregarded. In this work, four freely available datasets, including Shuttle Radar Topography Mission C-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SRTM C-SAR V3 DEM), Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer Global Digital Elevation Map (ASTER GDEM V2), and two nationwide airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR)-derived DTMs (at 5-m and 1-m spatial resolution, respectively) were analysed in three geomorphologically contrasting, small (3-5 km(2)) catchments located in Mediterranean landscapes under intensive human influence (Mallorca Island, Spain). Vertical accuracy as well as the influence of each dataset's characteristics on hydrological and geomorphological modelling applicability were assessed by using ground-truth data, classic geometric and morphometric parameters, and a recently proposed index of sediment connectivity. Overall vertical accuracyexpressed as the root mean squared error (RMSE) and normalised median deviation (NMAD)revealed the highest accuracy for the 1-m (RMSE = 1.55 m;NMAD = 0.44 m) and 5-m LiDAR DTMs (RMSE = 1.73 m;NMAD = 0.84 m). Vertical accuracy of the SRTM data was lower (RMSE = 6.98 m;NMAD = 5.27 m), but considerably higher than for the ASTER data (RMSE = 16.10 m;NMAD = 11.23 m). All datasets were affected by systematic distortions. Propagation of these errors and coarse horizontal resolution caused negative impacts on flow routing, stream network, and catchment delineation, and to a lower extent, on the distribution of slope values. These limitations should be carefully considered when applying DTMs for catchment hydrogeomorphological modelling
